How We Reach a Fair Number
When you bring in your precious metals, we walk you through the evaluation in person — so the figure you hear is one you understand and trust.
No commissioned buyers
Nobody here earns more for paying you less. You get an honest, fair number from a jeweler, not a quota.
A transparent calculation
We weigh your items on state-certified scales and walk you through the karat purity, weight, and current market rate behind every figure.
No pressure, no obligation
Hear our evaluation, ask anything, and take your time. There is never any expectation to sell on the spot.

Years of Trust
A Family You Can Trust
Family-owned in Palm Harbor since 1998, Conrad Jewelry is run by Ron Conrad alongside his wife Dana, daughter Sarah, and niece Stephanie. When you bring in your gold, silver, or platinum, you sit down with the same family — not a buyer working the counter for a day.
We are GIA-trained jewelers, not a cash-for-gold window. Your evaluation is private, commission-free, and yours to walk away from. We would rather earn your trust than rush a transaction.
Bring your pieces by and let us take a careful look together. Call (727) 799-3030 for a free, no-obligation evaluation.
“Professional and very respectful people and jewelers. Gave a very fair and reasonable estimate of my items, giving both honest opinions, and choices. I will recommend them to family and friends.”

What We Check Together
When you bring your items in, this is what we look at to identify and value them. You’re welcome to look for the same signs at home first — here’s what tells us a piece is the real thing.
Testing Gold
Magnifying Glass Test
Look for visual clues: discoloration, color, shininess, and the purity hallmark. If it doesn’t pass this initial test, it’s likely not real gold.
Hallmark Test
Look for gold markings — mandatory marks engraved on gold items. On necklaces and bracelets, find them near the clasp; on rings, check the inside surface.
Float Test
Place your gold item in water. Genuine gold will sink to the bottom due to its high density. Fake or plated gold will float.
Testing Silver
Signs of authentic silver:
- Look for the official stamp — most countries require pure silver to have one
- Use a magnifying glass to find the International Silver Stamp Rating (a three-digit number)
- Check for poor luster, off-center strikes, or corrosion on coins
- Look for mint marks — counterfeiters often skip these details
Sterling Silver: Look for the ".925" marking, indicating 92.5% pure silver — the standard for quality silver jewelry and flatware.
